Alex Bleeker & The Freaks – “Don’t Look Down”

Aside from playing bass in indie rock band Real Estate, New Jersey’s Alex Bleeker creates a haunting brand of jangly folk rock in his side project, Alex Bleeker and The Freaks.

The project just unveiled a new song titled, “Don’t Look Down,” prepping us for their new LP to be released this May on Woodsist Records. Like with his last album, Bleeker recruits the help of his “freaks,” including Mountain Man‘s Amelia Meath, Woods‘ Jarvis Tanviere, Real Estate’s Jackson Pollis, and Big Troubles‘ Sam Franklin.

Boston psych-rock trio Quilt is a definite favorite around here, and if you haven’t already you should listen to and love on their Mexican Summer released full-length, Quilt. It’s srsly dope. They recently played a gorgeous set opening for Jeremy Jay at Glasslands, which you can watch below via the prolific Bleary Eyed Brooklyn. Toronto-based duo TRUST, who opened for Balam Acab’s NYC debut show at LPR not too long ago, will release their debut with Arts & Crafts entitled TRST in late February. “Bulbform” is the hair-raising lead single matched up with a cryptic video to really drive it home.
