Crocodiles (Duo Set)
Crocodiles (Duo Set)
Dirty, stripped down Jesus and Mary Chain style wallop combined with bits of experimental noise, bluesy swagger, and dense shoegazey goodness. The Crocodiles seem to reevaluate tried and true styles of rock from the past while injecting some fresh new blood into the proceedings. All the while they thankfully avoid falling into the trap of presenting themselves as some retro revival act, though they do have some mighty impressive hair. This is sure to appeal to those of you digging the lo-fi pop bliss of Wavves, Kurt Vile, No Age, and Crystal Stilts. From San Diego.
Cassie Ramone
Vocalist/guitarist of Vivian Girls and The Babies, plays acoustic music augmented by pedals and confrontational lyrics.
Sisu
Sisu
Recording project of Sandra Vu and Ryan Wood
Played live with Nat Keefer, Jules Medeiros, Dave South, Tito Echevarria, Chris Stevens
Roxy and Vicky from Punks On Mars
Punks on Mars is the "glitterpunk" project of Ryan Howe, who has also performed with similarly minded lo-fi pop bands like Greatest Hits, his cyborg-surf project Luke Perry, and the experimental electronic duo dANA. A shiny, catchy fusion of '60s British Invasion, '70s punk and glam, '80s power pop, and '90s lo-fi elements -- with a heavy dose of campy sci-fi for good measure -- Punks on Mars first emerged in May 2011 with the Madame Tussaud Overdrive 7", which featured a cover of "Shout Your Lungs Out," a song by the Beets, the band from the '90s Nickelodeon cartoon Doug. That July, Punks on Mars' self-titled debut album arrived on Howe's Ratgum label, and spent equal time with interstellar mood pieces and fizzy pop songs. Early in 2012, Howe returned with the sharply written Hey! Tiffany single.
