Willis Earl Beal is such a badass and he knows it.
Haim (as in, they say, rhymes with “time”) is a Cali band led by three sisters: Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim. Just this year they’ve secured a slot at Coachella, an appearance on Last Call with Carson Daly, and nods from the likes of Vogue (these girls also have really cool hair and really cool clothes) and NY Times. And this is all from just releasing their Forever EP for free on their website. Damn, gurls.
Check out the video below to see their acoustic session with The Warby Parker Citizens Sessions that the sisters managed to squeeze in during their insanely busy week at sxsw.

Seattle’s Beat Connection, now a foursome, has released a radiant dance number entitled “Think/Feel”, featuring vocal contributions from Chelsea Scheffe. With the exact details still forthcoming on the release of a full-length this summer with Moshi Moshi imprint Tender Age, we do know that it will be entitled Palace Garden and that it will be awesome. Up-and-coming Vancouver duo Evy Jane recently released their official video for “Sayso”, a lovely track off their self-titled EP, currently available via King Deluxe. Their unique blend of “beat-smart” pop and confessional lyrics has drawn them many an R&B comparison. You’ll definitely want to keep an eye on these guys this year.

We’ve kept an eye on lo-fi pop artist/producer Maria Minerva since last summer’s release of her first proper LP, Cabaret Cixous (NOT NOT FUN). However as the native Estonian was living in London at that time, and has since relocated to Lisbon, we’ve had to wait patiently for the opportunity to see her take the Glasslands stage.
Last Fall Minerva released her Sacred and Profane Love EP on the LA dance label and Not Not Fun affiliate 100% Silk. She and three of her Silk labelmates will embark on a European tour in May/June. A documentary will be made about their jaunt abroad, to which we encourage y’all to donate funds.
Watch her video for “Another Time and Place” below, and grab your tix to see her performance on closing night of UNSOUND Festival!
Maria Minerva is playing the Unsound Fest NY Closing Party at Glasslands on Sunday, April 22nd with Napszyklat // Sun Araw vs Heat Wave (DJ Set) // Eltron John (DJ Set)
